Racing games players take note: leaked photos give us what looks like our first look at
Logitech’s new steering wheel for the new generation of consoles, and the replacement for the successful G27.
For over two years now, the G29 has been the subject of many rumor mill sites, wondering, guessing, when finally LogiTech will replace the old outdated G27 racing wheel that used by millions of loyal racing fans around the world on their consoles and PC, and now that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles have been out for a while, the rumors of when is the G29 appearing have heated up even more.
The leaks come through Maxconsole (and via TheSixthAxis), with an approval certificate issued to Logitech Far East detailing the wheel and photos of the unit.
The wheel itself carries Logitech’s new branding, and its rim looks to carry on the high quality feel of previous high-end Logitech wheels. The front of the wheel, however, looks to have inherited many of the features of the Driving Force GT, which suggests the G29 is making a play for the console market rather than the more hardcore PC sector, and that it may well be exclusive to the PlayStation. The G29 Wheel is going through various ‘testing’ and ‘approval’ stages!
Already the situation with steering wheel support on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is complex and the introduction of a new wheel could well confuse things further. We have spoken to Logitech’s UK representatives, though they were unable to comment on what’s at present still rumour and speculation.
These exclusive pictures of the actual new Logitech G29 Driving Force looks like they are aiming for the next-gen PlayStation 4 gamers, so the Xbots might be out of luck.
