The OnePlus One was arguably last year’s smartphone sleeper hit – the company came out of nowhere with a smartphone packed with the latest hardware and a custom Android operating system developed by the clever bods behind Cyanogen. Even better, the OnePlus One seriously undercut the competition, making it the best value smartphone since LG and Google teamed up for the Nexus 5. Demand was so high the company was forced to use an invite system, limiting access to the phone in a way that only succeeded in increasing word of mouth about its fantastic value.

Release date
We know that the OnePlus 2 will be announced on 27 July and it will be the ‘world’s first product launch in VR. The firm has made its own Cardboard especially for the event and the 30,000 units have sold out.

The first specification OnePlus confirmed is that the processor will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 which is 64-bit and octa-core. But its version 2.1 of the chip and the company ensures that there won’t be any overheating problems like other phones have seen – it will be “cooler than ever”.
Next on the list is a USB Type-C port. Unlike the simple USB that is in your smartphone, this USB port gives you more advantage. This is the same USB which is found on the new MacBook and is expected to be on most new devices from now on. It’s reversible, charges faster and can be used to charge other devices. So thats a Plus Point.

For security, OnePlus is finally giving fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 2 and matching some rivals including Apple and Samsung . This will presumably be used to unlock the device and possibly other things like authorising payments.
The last thing, for now, is that the OnePlus 2 will come with a whopping 4GB of RAM which is the most we’ve seen in a smartphone. Combine this with the Snapdragon 810 and the phone will be something of a powerhouse.
