The Asus relaunched the upgraded version of Asus zenfone max on 23rd may, 2016 online. The units were sent to media personnel inside a interesting box which was locked and couldn’t be opened till 23rd due to passcode. Anyways lets get started with the review.
Asus Zenfone Max 2016 30 days impressions:
Here are impressions of using the all new zenfone max for about 30 days.
Design and Hardware
The new Asus zenfone max looks premium and elegant in hand due to the polished metal chasis and the fake leather back. It comes in four different colors – Black, Blue, White and Orange Color. So, you have many options to choose from. On the top you will find the 3.5mm jack and on bottom you will find the main mic and the microusb port (Usb2.0). The volume rockers and the power button is located on the right grill of the phone and gives an haptic feedback.
On the back there is 13mp shooter and 5mp on front. The backcover of the zenfone max is removable and you find sim and memory slots. The battery is however non-removable. The Asus zenfone max hosts a 2gigs of ram and a snapdragon 615 (1.5ghz) chipset under the hood along with the Adreno 405 GPU.

The display panel is a 5.5 inch and is quite good and visible in direct sunlight but has low resolution of just 720p hd.
Performance & Software
Well in the past 30 days usage i have find the asus zenfone max to be pretty good at the performance area. While in Heavy gaming we did encounter many lags but for mild and moderate gaming it performs very well. In multitasking due to 2gigs of ram we did see some small lags here and there.
Still at the price the Zenfone max offers it performs quite great and for moderate to light usage it won’t be an issue but if you are looking to do some heavy gaming you might wanna look elsewhere.

On the Software Part the Asus Zenfone Max runs on the zenui like other asus devices. The good thing about the zenfone max is that it comes with android version 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) out of the box. The downside of the zen ui is that it is filled with Bloatware. The bloatware is something which asus needs to take care of.
The call reception and wi-fi connectivity was excellent and we didn’t noticed any drops. Our unit did have some bugs such as display stopped working and we have to lock and unlock the smartphone again which we confirmed with our tech folks and find out that only our unit experienced it.
On camera part the asus zenfone max performs the least. The front has 13 mp shooter which can record videos upto 1080p 30fps. On the back there is a 5mp shooter. The dual tone led flash and laser autofocus is also present on the back. The front shooter clicks decent selfies and pics but the rear camera performed just okay in our testing. The rear camera was our major disappointment in zenfone max.
(We do suspect that there are some issue’s with our unit so this review is fully based on it and may differentiate with others.)
The asus zenfone max runs on 5,000 mah battery and as expected delivers excellent results and can easily run for more than 2 days on heavy usage. The phone doesn’t get very hot during charging. The charger which comes with the zenfone max took about 5hrs to fully charge the phone as it is not a fast charger and have very low ouput so you might wanna use a different charger to the charge this beast of battery.
The asus zenfone max has a 32 gb of onboard storage which can be expanded via mirco sd card slot. So storage is not an issue. The ROM is a 2gb chip. Most of the installed apps can’t be transferred to the sd-card.
Asus Zenfone max 2016 review Verdict
Well we will definitely recommend the new asus zenfone max but there are little downsides which should be considered while purchasing this device such as The low display resolution, no fingerprint sensor, poor camera and little heavy weight. If you are okay with these drawbacks the zenfone max will be great smartphone for you. In 10k INR segment zenfone max is the only premium looking device to provide you an amazing battery backup.
