Xiaomi has just launched its first device which will be running on Android Oreo (Go Edition), Redmi Go is made for the users who are buying a smartphone for the first time. At the price of Rs 4,499, Redmi Go is the new most complete Xiaomi device. Jio’s budget phone is the king right now in this segment but after the arrival of Redmi Go, the game will surely change. There are very less good entry-level devices and Redmi Go is surely one of them. With a 5-inch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425, and good battery life, Redmi Go is a complete package and you can avail it by using Amazon Upcoming Sale. But, is it the best budget smartphone in the market? Let’s check it out in the Xiaomi’sRedmi Go review below:

Design and Display

The Redmi Go doesn’t look cheap and gets a good compact form factor with a robust and solid build of aluminum body. The back also gets the aluminum finish which makes it a little bit heavy weighing 137 grams. The device is 8.4mm thick which doesn’t make it very sleek. The back panel is curved which makes it easy to hold in hand and makes it grippy. On the front, you see the thick bezels on top and bottom. On the top bezel, you see the speaker and front-facing camera while on the bottom bezel, there are capacitive touch keys.

On the right, the phone gets volume buttons and power key while at the left, there is space for the dual SIM card and microSD card slots. On the bottom, the device packs a speaker, USB 2.0 charging slot and a 3.5mm jack on top. The Redmi Go has everything in terms of good ports and a nice budget build quality too. Yes, there is no notch and bigger screen on this device but still keeping the price in mind, it is good.

Coming to the display, the Redmi Go packs a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. At the front, the display gets Gorilla Glass 3 2.5D glass for extra protection. Keeping the price in mind, the display is really good as the device offers one of the best HD displays in this price range. Features like ambient display and night light add more value to this device. Overall, the display comes out with bright and vivid colors.

Under the hood, the Redmi Go has a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The internal storage can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Considering the price point, you won’t be using this phone for heavy tasks or intensive gaming. So, when it comes to general actions and daily tasking, the device worked smooth. As the device is a stock Android device and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition), it makes the device optimization pretty smooth and clear. The device comes with no Xiaomi’sbloatware as there is no Xiaomi’s UI in this device. Redmi Go comes with apps like Amazon, Facebook Lite and Mint Browser. But, the device runs Mint Launcher out of the box instead of stock Android launcher. Mint Launcher helps in customizing the device with themes and icon packs but it didn’t affect the performance. The thing is that running Mint Launcher means that it will limit the stock Android experience.

When it comes to gaming, the device won’t be able to run PUBG Mobile- it doesn’t support that. But, you can play some low graphics titles easily in this device. Loading this device with files like music and videos will surely slow down the device. But, as I said before- this device does all the basic works right.

Coming to the camera, the Redmi Go gets an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The device gets modes like Auto HDR and AI Beautify mode. The cameras came out with nice pictures with a lot of grains and noise especially indoors. Yes, the colors came out were accurate and there was a good amount of detailing to them but noise is the factor. It is an average camera for general usage- nothing more. In the night, you are not going to see some good pics even- grainy plus noisy. Overall, the camera is decent in budget smartphones.

Redmi Go comes with a moderate capacity 3,000mAh battery. The device battery can give you up to days of standby and 12 of call time. Moreover, 8 hours of music and 5 hours of video playback. The device can give you a day of battery life on typical usage with little battery juice left at the end. At this price tag, you are getting good battery life performance which will not disappoint anyone- one of the USPs of this device. In terms of battery usage, there are several options available in the market and you can buy them using Flipkart Sale Today Offer.
